Sons & Daughters
Criss, son of the Water and Fire Elementals, is an angry and conflicted young dragon with a buried heart of gold. While many dragons are most at home in the sea or the sky, Criss prefers to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, thank you so very much. But if he could only embrace his Water heritage, he would find that he can breathe underwater just as well as he can breathe air!
Was he toying with her? This was not a sensation which she enjoyed, Adutaine would have much preferred to have the upper hand. Her claws twitched once, involuntarily, before she stifled the motion and offered her companion a polite nod.
"I am pleased to hear it. Though, I wonder, could you not have found a Rider of an equally eager disposition, but without that setback? Aiden is progressing well, since you ask. He is willing and able to achieve all which I would expect of one of my Riders, perhaps more."
She paused. "Perhaps I may pay a visit to your lands one of these days. I am delighted by the offer, you have my gratitude."
Her demeanour cooler even than usual, perhaps, if only to hide the thoughts racing through her mind. She was understandably irritated at the idea that he could have hid so much of his nature from her for so long, but also intrigued by it. How had he done it? Or was this in itself a game, picked up from analysing her behaviour during their time spent together? Perhaps Astraeus' words were indeed a means of toying with her, but for reasons of personal amusement rather than hinting at deeper complexities within his nature.
Yes. That was it. She smiled inwardly and waited for Astraeus' response. His behaviour had been interesting, to be sure, but little more than a new quirk. There was no sense in wasting her time on such minutiae.
ooc: Torin Yup, Aiden is still hanging about, poor guy. She won't give up her half-elven pet that easily!
Astraeus nodded. "Yes, Adutaine, I could have, but that would have taken a while longer. Besides I choose my riders for far more than just their disposition. A physical setback it may be, but Haikal does not allow it to stop him. He is stronger for it. He is tenacious and I like that. And good! I am glad Aiden is doing well." He smiled at her.
"Of course! You are welcome anytime! And please do bring Aiden when you come, Haikal needs to meet more Riders. It would be good for him."
The grey Elemental started humming to himself once more, pleased with the outcome of this meeting. It was going far better than he had hoped. He could see that Time was in a bit of a twist not quite sure what to do with his sudden change of behavior. She had gone cold again though, and he could only guess at what she was thinking. Frankly, he'd rather not guess; it was too much of a hassle to try to figure that out.
~~~ Notes: The answer, dear Adutaine, is both for personal amusement and a hidden complex nature. Elemental Fuzzbucket! *snork* I LOVE it
Bring Aiden? The notion hadn't struck her as a particularly worthwhile one, until this very moment. Observing how Aiden interacted with Haikal would be interesting- for the purposes of analysing how her own influence had impacted his relations with others, at the very least. He hadn't met as many Riders as he perhaps should have: that was a point of intrigue she'd overlooked and thus neglected, but it was certainly still able to be rectified.
Yes. Perhaps in a few weeks or months time, she would take Aiden with her to see Astraeus and Haikal.
"It would undoubtedly be good for Aiden too," she proceeded, the polish in her voice wearing away the previously increased coldness.
They had reached the ocean now, the vast shining expanse consuming her field of vision. Adutaine turned to Astraeus and permitted him only the politest of smiles.
"Here we are, then. Do you intend to fly a little further, or return to your own doubtessly pressing concerns?"
ooc: Nope, totally just the former. Adu is never wrong, nope, not AT ALL- wot u on about? =P And yeah, he fully deserves the title!
The ocean shimmered below and beyond them. the rolling waves caught and reflected the light, glimmering and flashing. The ocean was nice. The tang of the salt in the air refreshing. Unfortunately salt and sand did not mix well with fur and feathers.
The grey Elemental let his humming fade away as he returned Adutaine's stiff smile with his own broad, easy one. "I suppose I ought to get going. Matters, while they can be postponed, always remain." He let out a soft sigh. "Alas, our work is never done." Air brightened once more. "It was good to talk once more, and please do come sooner rather than later. I do so enjoy having company. Besides," his smile turned mischievous, "we may have more to talk about. But for now, farewell, dear Adutaine. I hope you have a magnificent rest of your day."
Astraeus waited for a moment before he tilted his wings and circled away from the other Elemental, heading back to his territory where his creations and rider waited for him.
~~~ Notes: it felt right for him to leave now. I also forget how eloquently (i think that's the word I want?) he talks.
Samantha: And Paradox was amazing Dae! I enjoyed writing Adutaine opposite them. =)

Samantha: I get that Blazeh, no worries. <3 The site is pretty dead, it was just me and 27th and we couldn't keep it going on our own.
Apr 23, 2018 12:00:45 GMT
DaeSiggil: Oops, I know I haven't often helped by disappearing as I did. But still thinking about this place! <3

Verridith: Hey hon, love you guys but haven't seen anything happen since 2017 ;A; hope all are well! But have to remove you from BTACD's sister sites. I'm sorry! </3 </3 </3

Samantha: Exactly! It can be tricky, back home most of my friends are just from school, university or work. xD And it was lovely. They were all so lovely, the ones I was with spent the whole time talking about history, it was fun and edumacational.
Sept 30, 2017 10:02:29 GMT
27th: Wow! You got to have dinner with the authors? Making new friends is always nice. I know that struggle as I don't socialize like my peers.
Sept 12, 2017 18:00:11 GMT
Samantha: that great at doing haha (I don't like going out to parties and stuff, which seems to be the main way people my age socialise.)
Sept 11, 2017 23:11:00 GMT
Samantha: -looks at timestamp on last reply- Eeeek, apologies for the delay! But yeah it was AMAZING. My favourite author signed my favourite book, and we even had dinner with the authors one of the nights. Plus, I made some new friends, which I don't tend to be
Sept 11, 2017 23:10:37 GMT
27th: That sounds very cool! I would have loved going to something like that.
Aug 20, 2017 21:03:22 GMT
Samantha: It just means 'science fiction and fantasy.' So it was a conference for authors of these things, and scholars who study them!
Aug 19, 2017 21:10:27 GMT
27th: Glad you had a good time in Sweden! What is SFF?
Aug 11, 2017 16:08:48 GMT
Samantha: Sorry for the disappearance. I was in Sweden for an SFF conference- it was pretty cool!
Aug 11, 2017 10:48:27 GMT
Samantha: It's sad, yeah. We need more members to have more staff, we need more staff to keep the place active, and we need to have the place active to get more members. Sort of a vicious cycle. =P
Jul 31, 2017 16:46:13 GMT
Samantha: The problem is that the main person who likes to run contests, Riv, also has a tendency to disappear. xD And I don't have the time and the energy to run this place proper on my own.
Jul 31, 2017 16:45:38 GMT
27th: Yes, it is a lot of work. Though, I agree it could be worth the effort. As far as contests go, we've tried them here at DotE before. I don't know how well any of them worked but we it couldn't hurt to try.
Jul 30, 2017 5:53:42 GMT
R: Could try a contest?
Jul 29, 2017 4:40:04 GMT
shadow: Well. Yea. That also is a lot of work. It would be worth it though
Jul 28, 2017 4:12:51 GMT
27th: Well, recruitment would be key to that. Contacting the members we already have to try and get them to participate here would also be part of that.
Jul 26, 2017 15:52:29 GMT
shadow: I wonder what would happen if we tried to make it alive again
