Sons & Daughters
Criss, son of the Water and Fire Elementals, is an angry and conflicted young dragon with a buried heart of gold. While many dragons are most at home in the sea or the sky, Criss prefers to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, thank you so very much. But if he could only embrace his Water heritage, he would find that he can breathe underwater just as well as he can breathe air!
Greetings, fellow roleplayers! This here is a place for you to chuck any little teasers or information you may want to share about upcoming characters, or upcoming plot points for established characters. Basically, this is where you can post tantalising titbits to drive the rest of us nuts. xP
(NOTE TO STAFF: this should go without saying, but please do not reveal any major plot twists here. If you're uncertain, here's a good rule of thumb: if it only exists on the staff board, don't say much at all).
For starters, here's a lady I've been working on lately. She is a massive WIP and won't appear in universe for a long time yet, if at all. I'm still working on her design- this doll maker here has been a massive help- and one of the many things I am unable to sort is her hair colour, so here are a few pics. xD
EDIT: I found out how to add freckles! Defs gonna add some of those soon...
Dug up an old prose-background-childhood-etc character test for the lovely lady in the top picture! Thought I might share a small snippet with you guys to jump-start this thread. =)
Not to be deterred, Kitaris folded her arms and pouted at her cousin.
“You started it, really. Saying my father was a ‘dud’.”
“Well, it’s true. And mine is not an unlikeable man, as you were so quick to claim.”
“That’s not what our grandmother said.”
“You honestly expect me to believe that she would say something like that about her own son?”
“You are such a liar,” Ceryt snorted, turning her back in disgust.
(thanks to this story I also have a visual design stored on my computer, for her cousin whom I don't intend to rp at all; haha help!).
(Yes, 'dud' was the word I intended to use. "A thing which fails to work properly or is otherwise unsatisfactory or worthless" is the first definition which turns up when you search "dud meaning", and that is the one I was going with).
(pretty boring excerpt really, but it summons up their childhood dynamic pretty well. These two did not like each other at all, or each other's parents. I imagine said parents must have had a difficult time dealing with the fallout from this!).
If anyone has been reading up on the latest Darkflame and D role play thread, they'll read about a feathered hunter that D once saw hunting on the plains of the Life territory. Who is this feathered hunter? A dragon? A bird? A dragon-bird? Only time shall tell!
Darkness seeped between the vegetation, hung under the lofty boughs, and pushed out the light of the day. Night had come. The birds, usually softly singing goodnight to each other, were unsettled. They nervously preened their feathers, staying in their nests, and not one made any attempt to bid the day away.
Dull gold eyes opened slowly. There was pain behind them and tiredness, but anger and a predator’s keen glance lurked even further in. The dragon took a ragged breath and let it out slowly. The air around him shifted, and he narrowed his eyes but then his white teeth flashed in a triumphant smile. He would be patient—one of the few things he could actually thank his pathetic creator for—and he would be watching. But for now it was time to rest and heal. His chance to emerge into the world would come once more.
The gold eyes closed and darkness quickly claimed the new territory for itself.
The large dragoness looked intently into the pool. She had not seen her Ambassador for some time now. How was he getting on? She expected to see him traversing some new territory but, to her surprise, he was flying over the river at the eastern edge of her territory. He could not have seen the entire island so quickly!
There was so much color and noise. If she hadn't been so close the water, even it's roar would have been drowned out. She had never been anywhere like this place before. She now understood where her friend got his color from. He blended right in here.
Where was he, anyway? The miniscule dragon rose up from where she was clinging to a vine and scanned the nearby area. She felt apprehensive being alone in a new place without the one dragon she trusted completely. At least, she thought she was alone...
Well didn't he look just like his mother. Not that he was going to say so. Apparently, the Lesser Elemental's search for a Rider had been a bust, again. The grey creation rolled his bulbous red eyes. He understood that his friend was lonely but why not just travel?
Who cared what anyone said about his coloring? He didn't have to tell anyone he was a Lesser Elemental. Then, the grey creation came to a sudden realization. His friend was not looking at him. He turned his head and immediately saw an orange and black fluff ball flying towards them. Oh for the love of-This was going to be fun!
The Great Viamor gave an eager growl as he turned to enter into the hidden passage among the ice. He smiled to himself, knowing no one else could see him here in the heart of his Lair. Surrounding him were all the things that no one was allowed to see, his personal little toys in all their strange twisted shapes and designs. Down where no one could hear the agonized screams of the experiments that he was conducting or the notes that only his Rider were allowed to see. Perhaps today Tabae would make some break through or something had gone wrong and killed him, both would amuse the cold Elemental.
There was still much that needed to be done before perfection could be achieved after all.
Rashan "Are you real? And are you fun?" Shydra "Vaseera shall have mercy on us all, even my worst enemies." Viamor "This world will freeze."
The Elemental had been sleeping soundly in her territory, her Rider by her side. Then, she was jolted awake and she raised her head to look around. It couldn't be. It just couldn't be. She had been awakened by a magic she hadn't felt for thousands of years...
"Oh, honey! You mean you haven't heard? Well let me tell you the latest..."
Samantha: And Paradox was amazing Dae! I enjoyed writing Adutaine opposite them. =)
Apr 23, 2018 12:02:57 GMT
Samantha: I get that Blazeh, no worries. <3 The site is pretty dead, it was just me and 27th and we couldn't keep it going on our own.
Apr 23, 2018 12:00:45 GMT
DaeSiggil: Oops, I know I haven't often helped by disappearing as I did. But still thinking about this place! <3
Apr 18, 2018 16:11:08 GMT
Verridith: Hey hon, love you guys but haven't seen anything happen since 2017 ;A; hope all are well! But have to remove you from BTACD's sister sites. I'm sorry! </3 </3 </3
Apr 6, 2018 12:22:38 GMT
Samantha: Exactly! It can be tricky, back home most of my friends are just from school, university or work. xD And it was lovely. They were all so lovely, the ones I was with spent the whole time talking about history, it was fun and edumacational.
Sept 30, 2017 10:02:29 GMT
27th: Wow! You got to have dinner with the authors? Making new friends is always nice. I know that struggle as I don't socialize like my peers.
Sept 12, 2017 18:00:11 GMT
Samantha: that great at doing haha (I don't like going out to parties and stuff, which seems to be the main way people my age socialise.)
Sept 11, 2017 23:11:00 GMT
Samantha: -looks at timestamp on last reply- Eeeek, apologies for the delay! But yeah it was AMAZING. My favourite author signed my favourite book, and we even had dinner with the authors one of the nights. Plus, I made some new friends, which I don't tend to be
Sept 11, 2017 23:10:37 GMT
27th: That sounds very cool! I would have loved going to something like that.
Aug 20, 2017 21:03:22 GMT
Samantha: It just means 'science fiction and fantasy.' So it was a conference for authors of these things, and scholars who study them!
Aug 19, 2017 21:10:27 GMT
27th: Glad you had a good time in Sweden! What is SFF?
Aug 11, 2017 16:08:48 GMT
Samantha: Sorry for the disappearance. I was in Sweden for an SFF conference- it was pretty cool!
Aug 11, 2017 10:48:27 GMT
Samantha: It's sad, yeah. We need more members to have more staff, we need more staff to keep the place active, and we need to have the place active to get more members. Sort of a vicious cycle. =P
Jul 31, 2017 16:46:13 GMT
Samantha: The problem is that the main person who likes to run contests, Riv, also has a tendency to disappear. xD And I don't have the time and the energy to run this place proper on my own.
Jul 31, 2017 16:45:38 GMT
27th: Yes, it is a lot of work. Though, I agree it could be worth the effort. As far as contests go, we've tried them here at DotE before. I don't know how well any of them worked but we it couldn't hurt to try.
Jul 30, 2017 5:53:42 GMT
R: Could try a contest?
Jul 29, 2017 4:40:04 GMT
shadow: Well. Yea. That also is a lot of work. It would be worth it though
Jul 28, 2017 4:12:51 GMT
27th: Well, recruitment would be key to that. Contacting the members we already have to try and get them to participate here would also be part of that.
Jul 26, 2017 15:52:29 GMT
shadow: I wonder what would happen if we tried to make it alive again
