Sons & Daughters
Criss, son of the Water and Fire Elementals, is an angry and conflicted young dragon with a buried heart of gold. While many dragons are most at home in the sea or the sky, Criss prefers to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, thank you so very much. But if he could only embrace his Water heritage, he would find that he can breathe underwater just as well as he can breathe air!
The young air dragon swooped about playfully in the air, bouncing lightly from cloud to cloud, opening her wings and soaring through the clear blue sky, allowing the thermals to carry her higher and higher and higher. She could feel the atmosphere getting thin, and her body adjusting to the rapid changes. Avery suddenly allowed herself to tip forwards, nose pointing straight towards the ground, and folded her wings, plummeting vertically down, the wind whistling highly in her ears, almost screaming along.
The adrenaline caught her, and she flipped onto her back, her wings spreading out and catching her mid-fall like a parachute, so that she floated up slightly before beginning to light down. The golden-and-white dragon closed her baby blue eyes and allowed herself to savor the freedom that she felt, which came so often in the peaceful, tame air territory.
Rezon trotted along, his tail sweeping over the long grasses. Today was a day that he looked most like himself. Instead of his bright coppery scales, his natural armor was the color of dusty orange. He hadn't altered his appearance any other way, so his legs were still long and limber, his wings still thin and leathery, his horns still dark and protruding down his head and back. Rezon was beyond caring about his appearance at this point in time. His thoughts were upon his missing elf companion. He had left Dark's territory a while ago and had scoured Light's lands for Bast. The old dragon had found no sign of the former rider. So, Rezon had decided to search the rest of the territories. First one up was Air. He hadn't found a thing though and he was running out of Air territory to search. Ah well, he'd find the elusive elf at some point in time. Or so he hoped.
The tall, lanky elder paused in his search as something caught his eye. It was another creation, presumably one created by Air. She was quite enjoying herself high in the skies. Rezon let out a low chuckle. Ah, what it would be to be young again! How he wanted to join her and perform tricks and maneuvers he had picked up over the years: flitting and flying, tumbling and wheeling, diving and gliding. Sometimes he wondered if he’d been created by Air instead of Light, but Rezon knew better. Unfortunately, his aging bones would certainly protest performing such vigorous tricks. He’d be aching for the next few days afterwards. So, best to not join her. But he couldn’t help it when he sat in the grasses and watched her with a certain amount of amusement and just a tad of envy.
Avery was still frolicking about in the skies when she spotted a speckle on the ground, stopped, apparently glancing up at her. Curious, she swooped lower, circling above the animal, tilting her head and watching him.
It was an older dragon, a male. He appeared to be watching her with what looked like amusement, and at this she smiled. She dipped lower, landing in front of him and bowing her head in some form of respect. "Hi," she said, her eyes sparkling, and she crawled forward to see him better. Her lungs rapidly adjusted to the thickening air on the ground, and for a moment she took slow, deep pants. "Hi. I'm Avery. I saw you looking at me. Who're you?"
The dragon soon spotted him and swept lower, circling for a moment before she landed. Rezon dipped his own head imitating the bow she had given him. "Hello," he rumbled gently at the young Creation. He waited patiently as she regained her breath. A smile curved his lips upward as she spoke. "It's nice to meet you, Avery. My name is Rezon," he replied. He gave a light laugh. "Yes, I was; I was wishing I could fly like I used to; like you can. You are a wonderful flyer, young one, and it made me just a little jealous."
Samantha: And Paradox was amazing Dae! I enjoyed writing Adutaine opposite them. =)

Samantha: I get that Blazeh, no worries. <3 The site is pretty dead, it was just me and 27th and we couldn't keep it going on our own.

DaeSiggil: Oops, I know I haven't often helped by disappearing as I did. But still thinking about this place! <3

Verridith: Hey hon, love you guys but haven't seen anything happen since 2017 ;A; hope all are well! But have to remove you from BTACD's sister sites. I'm sorry! </3 </3 </3

Samantha: Exactly! It can be tricky, back home most of my friends are just from school, university or work. xD And it was lovely. They were all so lovely, the ones I was with spent the whole time talking about history, it was fun and edumacational.

27th: Wow! You got to have dinner with the authors? Making new friends is always nice. I know that struggle as I don't socialize like my peers.
Sept 12, 2017 18:00:11 GMT
Samantha: that great at doing haha (I don't like going out to parties and stuff, which seems to be the main way people my age socialise.)
Sept 11, 2017 23:11:00 GMT
Samantha: -looks at timestamp on last reply- Eeeek, apologies for the delay! But yeah it was AMAZING. My favourite author signed my favourite book, and we even had dinner with the authors one of the nights. Plus, I made some new friends, which I don't tend to be
Sept 11, 2017 23:10:37 GMT
27th: That sounds very cool! I would have loved going to something like that.
Aug 20, 2017 21:03:22 GMT
Samantha: It just means 'science fiction and fantasy.' So it was a conference for authors of these things, and scholars who study them!
Aug 19, 2017 21:10:27 GMT
27th: Glad you had a good time in Sweden! What is SFF?
Aug 11, 2017 16:08:48 GMT
Samantha: Sorry for the disappearance. I was in Sweden for an SFF conference- it was pretty cool!
Aug 11, 2017 10:48:27 GMT
Samantha: It's sad, yeah. We need more members to have more staff, we need more staff to keep the place active, and we need to have the place active to get more members. Sort of a vicious cycle. =P
Jul 31, 2017 16:46:13 GMT
Samantha: The problem is that the main person who likes to run contests, Riv, also has a tendency to disappear. xD And I don't have the time and the energy to run this place proper on my own.
Jul 31, 2017 16:45:38 GMT
27th: Yes, it is a lot of work. Though, I agree it could be worth the effort. As far as contests go, we've tried them here at DotE before. I don't know how well any of them worked but we it couldn't hurt to try.
Jul 30, 2017 5:53:42 GMT
R: Could try a contest?
Jul 29, 2017 4:40:04 GMT
shadow: Well. Yea. That also is a lot of work. It would be worth it though
Jul 28, 2017 4:12:51 GMT
27th: Well, recruitment would be key to that. Contacting the members we already have to try and get them to participate here would also be part of that.
Jul 26, 2017 15:52:29 GMT
shadow: I wonder what would happen if we tried to make it alive again
