Tagging: Samantha [Adutaine]
The tall, lanky boy stood out in the barren desert, the sand billowing aggressively around him as the wind churned the particles around, and Virgil had to constantly bring his hands to rub his eyes. Finally, he opted to keep his head down the entire time, and keep his eyes on the ground ahead of him. The sandstorm buffered him side to side, and he struggled to continue walking through the deep dunes. Gritting his teeth, Virgil pushed on, desperately trying to find a way out of this damn place.
He had no idea how he'd ended up here in the first place. It was an island, he knew that; sooner or later, if he kept pushing in one direction, he'd encounter the ocean again. But how long until he reached water, he had no idea. There was something different about this place; something that was supposed to be a constant was not. He could not place his finger on the deity that controlled this land; it had to be the land of another Elemental. He had been through the Earth domain, then traversed through the Firelands, stumbling around aimlessly, awed by the awesomeness of this new realm of dragons.
Suddenly, Virgil felt nauseous, and doubled over, ignoring the sand particles that flew into his eyes. He sank to his knees into the warm sand, hands pressed at the ground, his head spinning. The sandstorm abruptly subsided, as if something had summoned it away with a snap of its fingers. Instead, when he opened his eyes, a large shadow was looming over him, and he looked up, startled to see a giant female dragon standing in front of him. Her eyes glittered, and he was sure that he'd encountered the matriarch of this land. He was also suddenly aware of the fact that he was kneeling on one knee, bowing, and not on all fours.
"Adutaine," Virgil said, the name of the dragoness springing to his mind. He had never met her before, but at the same time he felt like he just did, and had just learned her name. His eyes slid sideways to glance at their surroundings; the desert was still there, yes, kind of... it was murky, all murky and foggy and unclear. The shapes of the dunes seemed to twist and warp constantly. Virgil could not have told their exact shape. Adutaine was speaking, but it was unclear what she was saying; though she enunciated every word clearly, he still had no idea what she had just said...
And then he felt that terrible dizziness again, and once more he forced himself to squeeze his eyes shut (though he really wanted to meet this Adutaine, whoever she was) and try to power through the strong pain in his head. When he opened his eyes again, he realized he was back where he was before he'd magically transported to Adutaine's meeting place. The sand hills were familiar once again, and there was the sandstorm. Virgil blinked, confused at what just happened.
Not even ten seconds had passed, and he doubled over again, the headache returning. For a moment, things were silent, and Virgil was not sure what happened in that time frame (did he get up? When did the sandstorm stop?), but suddenly he was standing with his longsword out, facing off against a large creature-thing. It looked quite familiar... wait! he thought in alarm. I've already killed this monster! He had encountered the creature-thing about an hour ago, when it had erupted out of the sand in front of him. He had taken out its right eye, as well as cut through its stomach, killing it. But now it was standing, perfectly healthy, with two eyes and a whole belly, the way it was before he'd slayed it.
He dodged its bite, danced around it a bit, and finally rammed his sword into its chest, effectively killing it once more. He dropped his longsword beside it, taking a breather, thoroughly confused. And the, the dizziness overcame him again.
When he woke up, there was a large female dragon towering over him, but this time he couldn't quite place her name.
OOC: Sorry if I seem like I'm powerplaying. Again, not trying to-- but feel free to tell me if I am.
The moment when Virgil meets Adutaine, and the moment that he is forced to slay the creature-thing again are the seconds in which he travels back and forth between time. I read Adu's app, and it mentions that the future is vague-- hence the murkiness of their surroundings during their meeting. It could be anywhere! The only sure thing that happened, though, is that they meet. :-)
