Sons & Daughters
Criss, son of the Water and Fire Elementals, is an angry and conflicted young dragon with a buried heart of gold. While many dragons are most at home in the sea or the sky, Criss prefers to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, thank you so very much. But if he could only embrace his Water heritage, he would find that he can breathe underwater just as well as he can breathe air!
On the slopes of the Tivialian mountains, his back to a large boulder, Tivialous sat and talked with his Creations.
It had been a long time since he'd talked with them like this. Unlike his most recent conversation with Isador, where blunt honesty was inadvisable, here he spoke openly about what had happened and what was still to come. He saw their eyes, shaded and wary or wide with horror, as he presented them with details of the situation with Viamor. He saw their claws flex against the stone and their tails flicker to and fro, bodies tensed, disbelieving. It had been a long time since he'd seen them like this, and he would have preferred to not be seeing this now, but it had to be done.
They'd moved on some way, and the dragons split off to spar with one another, when he registered the approach of a familiar figure. It only made sense that other Elementals besides Fazoola would come to visit him in this tumultuous time, and yet Tivialous was nonetheless surprised to see the Air Elemental here and now.
Astraeus was deep in thought. He had left Haikal and Tam back in his territory where they would be safe. He wanted to talk to Tivialous before he returned Light's rider. Did he even know where Tam was? Did he even care. Surely he had to care. Either way Astraeus needed to discuss this creature that their riders had come across; it after all had caused light to flash in the tunnels. Air had a few ides but he wanted to be sure, certain of them before he made any mistakes. Perhaps this creature was something Dark could take care of, perhaps it was not.
It wasn't hard to find Tivialous. The Elemental was sitting against a boulder, watching his creations spar. Astraeus frowned to himself before he replaced it with his normal light jovial expression. He landed in front of Light and dipped his head in greeting. "Tivialous. Hello. I am afraid there are rather important things I must discuss with you."
Tivialous returned the gesture. It was obvious that Astraeus was here regarding one of two things: Ysera, or Viamor. Air's light and carefree nature made it difficult to tell which but, Tivialous supposed, even Astraeus would seem less cheery if he were here to confront him about Earth.
"I suppose there are," he said, with a half-smile. "What's on your mind?"
Tivialous smiled at him, but Astraeus did not return it. His smile had faded into a passive expression. "The tunnels--Dark's new lands--there's something there, Tiv. Our riders stumbled upon it; they said that it had killed a creation, that there were flashing lights and it morphed, changed." His tail flicked several times as he thought. His steady blue gaze went up to meet Tivialous'. "I have my suspicions. I believe it is the Creation of Many."
This struck Tivialous first- that Tam had run into some kind of trouble in Dragonsdeep. Had Ivy been with her? What of Talbot? But before he could ask after them, the remainder of the sentence sunk in. Astraeus may have been lighthearted, but he was certainly not given to flights of fancy of this kind. He wouldn't say this without cause.
"Shape-shifting is not an uncommon trait," Tivialous said, carefully. "But given the lights and the location...this is certainly worth some consideration. I hope you're wrong."
One of his Creations was looking at him expectantly. Light nodded and the drake returned to his previous task, while Tivialous turned his attention back to Astraeus and further lowered his voice:
"I hope I am too, but I don't believe I am." Light nodded, not at him but behind him. Astraeus followed the much bigger Elemental's gaze to see one of Tivialous' Creations standing there. Yes, he almost forgot, they were not alone here and the information he was giving to Tiv was rather important and better not to be tossed around by Creations who had no idea what exactly was going on.
Astraeus too lowered his voice when he turned back to Tiv, "His rider was there too, so yes, I believe Icarus does." He sighed, "As for me, I suppose I must confirm that it is indeed the Creation of Many, and if I am right, then I tell the others, because Dark will not be able to handle it on his own. It will take all, or most of us seeing as how last time went... less than well."
"Do you want my help? I understand if you wish to do this alone but- as you say- seeing how last time went...perhaps you would appreciate the assistance?"
Another pause. The possible continued existence of the Creation of Many Elements was of great concern, but it occurred to Tivialous that he'd neglected to ask after his Rider or his son. He'd assumed Astraeus would let him know if they'd been injured, but if they were okay...why hadn't they returned here with him?
"I would appreciate it, Tivialous, but if you do not wish to, then I will not push you to."
Finally, he asked about his rider. The previous silence about Tam had not gone unnoticed. Things between them did not seem to be on very good terms, not only from Tiv's reactions, but Tam's as well. "She is fine, Light. She is currently with Haikal on my lands." Astraeus shook his head. "No, Talbot was not with them. I do not know where he is." He paused for a moment. "I know it is not my place to pry, Light, but are things all right between you and Tam?"
He relaxed slightly when Astraeus said Tam was alright, but frowned when he heard Talbot wasn't there. Had he and Ivy gone off on their own? It wouldn't be like them to leave Tam like that...so what had happened?
Then Air spoke again, and Tivialous was thrown.
"Hrrr?" he started, a throaty sound which was more or less a Draconic equivalent of 'Err?'. "Yes, I think so. She wanted to see Dragonsdeep and I let her go."
Oh... uhh... Well then. Tiv seemed to be unaware of whatever was going on. Maybe it was nothing at all, and maybe Astraeus was looking too much into it. The Air Elemental shrugged mentally to himself. "Ah. I see. She seemed... a little... unhappy with you, I suppose. I didn't ask her, so I'm not sure if it's actually something or not."
"I can only guess it's about my decision to remain behind with Earth," he said, at last. "Or else something happened to Ivy and...but Tam would have said something to you or Haikal, surely. I'll speak to her when she returns. For now, we need to tell the others what our Riders found."
Samantha: And Paradox was amazing Dae! I enjoyed writing Adutaine opposite them. =)

Samantha: I get that Blazeh, no worries. <3 The site is pretty dead, it was just me and 27th and we couldn't keep it going on our own.

DaeSiggil: Oops, I know I haven't often helped by disappearing as I did. But still thinking about this place! <3

Verridith: Hey hon, love you guys but haven't seen anything happen since 2017 ;A; hope all are well! But have to remove you from BTACD's sister sites. I'm sorry! </3 </3 </3

Samantha: Exactly! It can be tricky, back home most of my friends are just from school, university or work. xD And it was lovely. They were all so lovely, the ones I was with spent the whole time talking about history, it was fun and edumacational.

27th: Wow! You got to have dinner with the authors? Making new friends is always nice. I know that struggle as I don't socialize like my peers.
Sept 12, 2017 18:00:11 GMT
Samantha: that great at doing haha (I don't like going out to parties and stuff, which seems to be the main way people my age socialise.)
Sept 11, 2017 23:11:00 GMT
Samantha: -looks at timestamp on last reply- Eeeek, apologies for the delay! But yeah it was AMAZING. My favourite author signed my favourite book, and we even had dinner with the authors one of the nights. Plus, I made some new friends, which I don't tend to be
Sept 11, 2017 23:10:37 GMT
27th: That sounds very cool! I would have loved going to something like that.
Aug 20, 2017 21:03:22 GMT
Samantha: It just means 'science fiction and fantasy.' So it was a conference for authors of these things, and scholars who study them!
Aug 19, 2017 21:10:27 GMT
27th: Glad you had a good time in Sweden! What is SFF?
Aug 11, 2017 16:08:48 GMT
Samantha: Sorry for the disappearance. I was in Sweden for an SFF conference- it was pretty cool!
Aug 11, 2017 10:48:27 GMT
Samantha: It's sad, yeah. We need more members to have more staff, we need more staff to keep the place active, and we need to have the place active to get more members. Sort of a vicious cycle. =P
Jul 31, 2017 16:46:13 GMT
Samantha: The problem is that the main person who likes to run contests, Riv, also has a tendency to disappear. xD And I don't have the time and the energy to run this place proper on my own.
Jul 31, 2017 16:45:38 GMT
27th: Yes, it is a lot of work. Though, I agree it could be worth the effort. As far as contests go, we've tried them here at DotE before. I don't know how well any of them worked but we it couldn't hurt to try.
Jul 30, 2017 5:53:42 GMT
R: Could try a contest?
Jul 29, 2017 4:40:04 GMT
shadow: Well. Yea. That also is a lot of work. It would be worth it though
Jul 28, 2017 4:12:51 GMT
27th: Well, recruitment would be key to that. Contacting the members we already have to try and get them to participate here would also be part of that.
Jul 26, 2017 15:52:29 GMT
shadow: I wonder what would happen if we tried to make it alive again
