Sons & Daughters
Criss, son of the Water and Fire Elementals, is an angry and conflicted young dragon with a buried heart of gold. While many dragons are most at home in the sea or the sky, Criss prefers to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, thank you so very much. But if he could only embrace his Water heritage, he would find that he can breathe underwater just as well as he can breathe air!
I really think that the land of the dragons should expand and have neutral grounds. Meaning none of the elementals own it and it's free range for a dragon to relax and interact with others without having to worry about a grumpy elemental telling them they can't be there if they're protective of their territory. It cold also bring a wide variety of things to the rp. Elemental meetings can be held on a special neutral ground. PLus who doesn't like the thought of fire and water creation falling in love and being able to spend their time on neutral grounds.
I'll have to think about this one. Some of the history (particularly the First War of the Elements) suggests that the Elementals were fighting over every scrap of land. But neutral ground could certainly be useful in that, as you suggested, it would be the perfect place for a Gathering. Perhaps one has been created since then, maybe in the last millennium or so, to be used for Gatherings? Even then, Viamor or some other aggressive Elemental might prefer to control it themselves...
Most of the Elementals aren't uber protective- off the top of my head, most dragons would be perfectly welcome in the Time, Light, Air, and Life (if they can find their way in!) territories, as well as Dragonsdeep. =) I think Earth is pretty safe too, the Earth Elemental as she currently exists is more mischievous than outright cruel. So while we work this out, those territories aren't going to cause issues if you want to make threads in any- and two Riders recently passed through Death safely enough, mostly because the rper hasn't been around for a while, but that's another place where different Creations can thus meet and hang out.
Torin what are your thoughts on this? @anyone else also, but Torin is the only person besides me and Riv who I know is both active and actually able to access the site right now, haha.
I feel like most of the Elementals would be a little too protective to give up some of their territory for this, after all there was a war fought over land as Sam said. And like, Sam said again, many of the Elementals, while they're probably not over-eager to give up land, don't care who's on their lands. I don't think they have enough time to go around and make sure there's no stray dragons on their lands anyway.
It would be interesting indeed, and useful for Gatherings, but other than that I don't think it's necessary.
TorinSamantha Another reason I think one or two neutral lands would be good is because if there's some sort of treaty preventing war over them we could just say oocicly they simply do not fight over it.
In many rps restricting only certain territories like fire and stuff dumbs down interaction. It makes it difficult to interact with certain characters and neutral grounds can not only make up for some interesting plots, but what if a new island popped up unannounced and the elements knowing how they've fought before decided that the island will be neutral ground. It is not owned by anyone not even the elementals. And if someone breaks the treaty then it would be one elemental against the rest.
Or it could always be a new plot xD - just having a neutral island there's so many pro's to it. Members could plot out rebellions only to be stricken down. Creations that feel they don't belong don't have to cower and hide in their own territory. While many elementals don't mind, for the ones that do - it would be nice to have something like that.
Samantha: And Paradox was amazing Dae! I enjoyed writing Adutaine opposite them. =)

Samantha: I get that Blazeh, no worries. <3 The site is pretty dead, it was just me and 27th and we couldn't keep it going on our own.

DaeSiggil: Oops, I know I haven't often helped by disappearing as I did. But still thinking about this place! <3

Verridith: Hey hon, love you guys but haven't seen anything happen since 2017 ;A; hope all are well! But have to remove you from BTACD's sister sites. I'm sorry! </3 </3 </3

Samantha: Exactly! It can be tricky, back home most of my friends are just from school, university or work. xD And it was lovely. They were all so lovely, the ones I was with spent the whole time talking about history, it was fun and edumacational.

27th: Wow! You got to have dinner with the authors? Making new friends is always nice. I know that struggle as I don't socialize like my peers.
Sept 12, 2017 18:00:11 GMT
Samantha: that great at doing haha (I don't like going out to parties and stuff, which seems to be the main way people my age socialise.)
Sept 11, 2017 23:11:00 GMT
Samantha: -looks at timestamp on last reply- Eeeek, apologies for the delay! But yeah it was AMAZING. My favourite author signed my favourite book, and we even had dinner with the authors one of the nights. Plus, I made some new friends, which I don't tend to be

27th: That sounds very cool! I would have loved going to something like that.
Aug 20, 2017 21:03:22 GMT
Samantha: It just means 'science fiction and fantasy.' So it was a conference for authors of these things, and scholars who study them!
Aug 19, 2017 21:10:27 GMT
27th: Glad you had a good time in Sweden! What is SFF?
Aug 11, 2017 16:08:48 GMT
Samantha: Sorry for the disappearance. I was in Sweden for an SFF conference- it was pretty cool!
Aug 11, 2017 10:48:27 GMT
Samantha: It's sad, yeah. We need more members to have more staff, we need more staff to keep the place active, and we need to have the place active to get more members. Sort of a vicious cycle. =P

Samantha: The problem is that the main person who likes to run contests, Riv, also has a tendency to disappear. xD And I don't have the time and the energy to run this place proper on my own.
Jul 31, 2017 16:45:38 GMT
27th: Yes, it is a lot of work. Though, I agree it could be worth the effort. As far as contests go, we've tried them here at DotE before. I don't know how well any of them worked but we it couldn't hurt to try.
Jul 30, 2017 5:53:42 GMT
R: Could try a contest?
Jul 29, 2017 4:40:04 GMT
shadow: Well. Yea. That also is a lot of work. It would be worth it though
Jul 28, 2017 4:12:51 GMT
27th: Well, recruitment would be key to that. Contacting the members we already have to try and get them to participate here would also be part of that.
Jul 26, 2017 15:52:29 GMT
shadow: I wonder what would happen if we tried to make it alive again
