Sons & Daughters
Criss, son of the Water and Fire Elementals, is an angry and conflicted young dragon with a buried heart of gold. While many dragons are most at home in the sea or the sky, Criss prefers to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, thank you so very much. But if he could only embrace his Water heritage, he would find that he can breathe underwater just as well as he can breathe air!
"Very true," he mused, laying his tail across his forepaws. "But it seemed as if...we're all aware of how he typically is, of course, but it wasn't like at the Gatherings. Viamor wasn't merely trying to keep things from us. He was...more like Adutaine than usual, I suspose, in that regard. He knew that we knew something was amiss, but that we could never prove anything, whatever it might be. He was actively toying with us. That's what I find so discomforting."
Tivialous was becoming increasingly unsettled by this talk of Viamor. It had been on his mind, certainly, undoubtedly far more than it had played on the minds of those who chose to preoccupy themselves with Ysera. But the threat you could see before you was nowhere near as disturbing as a threat you couldn't quite pin down- and together, they were enough to make anybody anxious.
*** Tagging Rordrik in case I took too many liberties in describing Viamor.
As Tivialous described his encounter with Viamor, Fazoola shared his unease. Light was not a worry-wart. If even he felt disturbed, then there was need for concern. Though...Fazoola could not say that she wished to get involved. Certainly, Ice was on her border but just the thought of conflict...
The great dragoness flexed her claws, unaware that she was even doing it. It was a habit of hers when she felt any negative emotion, as if itching for action.
"Then, Tivialous, I ask you as a my fellow Elemental and one that I share a border with, what should be done? Acting on just mere feelings is the best way to start a fight for the wrong reasons. Yet, I am loathe to send any dragon to Ice to find out more. That is a harsh land and from what we found out last time..."
Fazoola's entire being exuded concern as she fixed her gaze on Tivialous but this time as one equal to another.
Tivialous dipped his gaze. He was used to giving advice. It felt reassuring in its way, this familiarity and the knowledge that- even now- Fazoola appreciated his thoughts on the matter. But his head was swimming and he felt anything but confident in his ability to steer them on the right course.
"You're right, there's no reason to do anything drastic as of yet," he began. "And you're correct as well about what happened, we can't risk any more Creations in that realm. I suppose all we can do for now is be on our guard."
It wasn't a lot, but Tivialous wasn't sure what else he could say. Part of him did want to investigate further- given time to heal, Eetu would undoubtedly be able to provide invaluable insight into the best ways into and around the Ice lands. However, that would be incredibly dangerous. If Viamor's words were more than mere bluster, a far greater number of Creations would die if they stood by and did nothing...even so, he felt cold at the thought of sacrificing even a few to avoid this mere possibility.
"And perhaps it wouldn't hurt to bolster our defences either," he continued, meeting her gaze as calmly as he was able. "I don't share a border with Ice, but even so it seems practical to prepare the Light dragons in case of attack. I have been negligent, it's true, but perhaps it's time that changed. And maybe it would be beneficial if you requested a dragon such as your talented young Ambassador, to patrol your own border from time to time until we can establish what is really going on."
*** ooc: So now if Haranling turns up at her border...I can sense that a lot of confusion and mistrust might ensue, if they suspect he may be a scout or whatever. =P
BIC: Fazoola let out a faint sigh. She had hoped that Light would have something better to offer than what he had just said. That had been her plan all along! She had lived for thousands of years. Waiting was possible but the tension while they did would be almost unbearable.
Life tensed as Light mentioned training his creations. "I hate fighting. I only ever teach my Riders how to defend themselves. My Ambassadors also, are able to handle themselves since one never knows what they may encounter through the other territories. I've never thought to teach my creations...Though sharing a border with Viamor, perhaps that was just wishful thinking. I had hoped the Fangs would be deterrent enough. When I get back home, I will begin working with my creations. I'll patrol the border with Ice. D has been busy non-stop for me so I let him have some time to himself."
The tip of the great dragoness' tail twitched as she began to build plans in her mind. Most of her creations would be loathe to learn how to fight but she hoped that they would all see the sense in their Elemental. She didn't want to alarm them yet, but she wanted to be prepared. Even after all this time, she felt the loss of those she was close to deeply. At the very least, she seemed to have an ally in Tivialous.
Fazoola was the only true pacifist among them. This was not at all surprising, given her particular elemental affinity. This must be especially difficult for her.
Tivialous glanced at a fluttering moth, returned his gaze to Life, and adopted the gentlest tone he could muster:
"I know you do. My own Creations are...well, most naturally possess some degree of survival instinct. But that might not be enough. We don't know what Viamor gets up to in that tower of him, but I doubt it's anything harmless. If we're on the edge of another war, all our Creations are likely to need some extra tuition."
He gritted his teeth, a reaction picked up from his Riders:
"War might not be inevitable yet, and I don't like all this either, believe me. But I don't see what else we can do right now, especially with the lands still in such disarray from...recent events. I don't think a Gathering would go well at this stage."
ooc: After realising a slight plothole, let's make it that there was originally going to be a Gathering about Viamor, but then Ysera caused that quake and those plans were shoved out the window.
BIC: Fazoola felt a twinge of amusement that Tivialous seemed to try to be comforting her as if she were an anxious hatchling. She was far too easygoing to take offence at his tone. After the first Elemental War, Fazoola had devised many, many defenses for her land. For a long time now, they had been enough. Her land had remained in relative peace, despite the goings-on of the other Elementals.
Perhaps, Fazoola thought with chagrin, she should just be grateful that her efforts had lasted this long.
"You are right, of course, Tivialous. No dragon wishes to meet Death too soon," Life said with a wry grin before she continued, "As for a Gathering, that is also not an option. With no real evidence and everyone still on edge from Ysera, nothing would get accomplished. If we are helpless to do something now, more heads mulling over what is just mere speculation at this point would be useless."
OOC: OK, I can work with that. It only makes sense.
Tivialous stood. She had come here to seek his advice, and to share their fears. If he was any judge of character at all, he suspected she would want to now return home to her Creations.
"So, I suspect you would like to return home now?" he asked, nodding towards the mountains beyond. It was always a good idea, and polite as well, to not just assume what others were thinking. He'd fallen into that trap several times before, back when he'd restricted his abilities less, and it was certainly awkward at best.
"I should probably speak with my own Creations soon as well," he mused. "I've admittedly neglected them somewhat as of late. Or my Ambassador, at the very least."
*** ooc: I hope this will suffice- I'm trying to get through a few rp things before I go away, so if this seems rushed, apologies. =)
It's fine if Fazoola wants to hang around for longer, I don't have anything else lined up for Tiv in the immediate future.
BIC: Fazoola also rose, slowly letting her tail snake behind her and carefully stretching out her wings in the confined space of the forest. Taking flight just here would not be wise. There was not sufficient room for her wingspan and besides, she didn't mind walking. She was fully ready to head home and begin preparations for any trouble that Viamor may cause. Being the only Elemental fully on Ice's border meant that Life would be the only one stopping Viamor from full-blown conquest.
The great dragoness felt a rush of determination flow through her with a bit of trepidation hidden in the mix. She knew that, given proper training, her creations could handle whatever Ice tried. Though, she also knew all too well the heavy price that her creations would most likely have to pay. That was the part that bothered her most: her life was not at risk. Unlike some Elementals, her creations were not mere pawns in bids for power but creatures she had created because she knew fully more than anything else in existence the true essence of Life.
Fazoola dipped her head formally to Tivialous, completely forgiving Light for what she had been so angry at him about, "Thank you, Tivialous, for your support. I shall return to Snake's Mouth and begin to do what we have discussed here. If there are any changes, expect a report from me and I hope that you will do the same. Until we meet again."
Life waved the tip of her tail in farewell as she turned to go, mind already flying ahead of her body to what the future now held.
OOC: This is fine, Sam. We can definitely wrap things up here. I suspect with your potential plans for Haranling that Fazoola should be back in Snake's Mouth for it.
Samantha: And Paradox was amazing Dae! I enjoyed writing Adutaine opposite them. =)

Samantha: I get that Blazeh, no worries. <3 The site is pretty dead, it was just me and 27th and we couldn't keep it going on our own.
Apr 23, 2018 12:00:45 GMT
DaeSiggil: Oops, I know I haven't often helped by disappearing as I did. But still thinking about this place! <3
Apr 18, 2018 16:11:08 GMT
Verridith: Hey hon, love you guys but haven't seen anything happen since 2017 ;A; hope all are well! But have to remove you from BTACD's sister sites. I'm sorry! </3 </3 </3
Apr 6, 2018 12:22:38 GMT
Samantha: Exactly! It can be tricky, back home most of my friends are just from school, university or work. xD And it was lovely. They were all so lovely, the ones I was with spent the whole time talking about history, it was fun and edumacational.
Sept 30, 2017 10:02:29 GMT
27th: Wow! You got to have dinner with the authors? Making new friends is always nice. I know that struggle as I don't socialize like my peers.
Sept 12, 2017 18:00:11 GMT
Samantha: that great at doing haha (I don't like going out to parties and stuff, which seems to be the main way people my age socialise.)
Sept 11, 2017 23:11:00 GMT
Samantha: -looks at timestamp on last reply- Eeeek, apologies for the delay! But yeah it was AMAZING. My favourite author signed my favourite book, and we even had dinner with the authors one of the nights. Plus, I made some new friends, which I don't tend to be
Sept 11, 2017 23:10:37 GMT
27th: That sounds very cool! I would have loved going to something like that.
Aug 20, 2017 21:03:22 GMT
Samantha: It just means 'science fiction and fantasy.' So it was a conference for authors of these things, and scholars who study them!
Aug 19, 2017 21:10:27 GMT
27th: Glad you had a good time in Sweden! What is SFF?
Aug 11, 2017 16:08:48 GMT
Samantha: Sorry for the disappearance. I was in Sweden for an SFF conference- it was pretty cool!
Aug 11, 2017 10:48:27 GMT
Samantha: It's sad, yeah. We need more members to have more staff, we need more staff to keep the place active, and we need to have the place active to get more members. Sort of a vicious cycle. =P
Jul 31, 2017 16:46:13 GMT
Samantha: The problem is that the main person who likes to run contests, Riv, also has a tendency to disappear. xD And I don't have the time and the energy to run this place proper on my own.
Jul 31, 2017 16:45:38 GMT
27th: Yes, it is a lot of work. Though, I agree it could be worth the effort. As far as contests go, we've tried them here at DotE before. I don't know how well any of them worked but we it couldn't hurt to try.
Jul 30, 2017 5:53:42 GMT
R: Could try a contest?
Jul 29, 2017 4:40:04 GMT
shadow: Well. Yea. That also is a lot of work. It would be worth it though
Jul 28, 2017 4:12:51 GMT
27th: Well, recruitment would be key to that. Contacting the members we already have to try and get them to participate here would also be part of that.
Jul 26, 2017 15:52:29 GMT
shadow: I wonder what would happen if we tried to make it alive again
