Haikal took a deep breath. "Fine; if you want to." He wasn't about to look over at the Creation. Instead he kept his gaze fixed on the ever approaching border. Soon, oh so soon they'd be back in familiar lands, back in the place he called home. The thought excited him; he'd been away for not terribly long, but long enough.
The man didn't notice Tam's pace slow down as they moved, and if he had, he wouldn't have cared. The air wasn't as still as it had been before: an effect of being so close to the border of Air. And the closer they got, the more he could feel it. Then the dark turned to green as the grass grew wild and long, moving gently in the now constant, refreshing breeze. In the distance the hills rolled and beyond them the stone pillars brushed the sky.
A few paces into the Air lands, Haikal stopped, leaning on the cane. His eyes closed and he took a deep breath, pulling in the pure air, and his shoulders dropped as the tension melted away. He then glanced over his shoulder to Tam, flashing her a grin. They were in Air, now all they had to do was find his Elemental.
A shadow passed overhead causing Haikal to look up. Birds. But not just any birds; the giant Bronzewings were flying, circling overhead. A few took off toward the Floating Island as two dove towards them. Haikal stood his ground as they landed, wind from their wings buffeting him. He smiled at the larger of the two. "Hello, Gwich." Blood adorned the massive bird's beak and feathers. They'd been hunting, Haikal concluded, that's why they were so close to the border.
Gwich cast his eyes over Haikal, head cocking, before his gaze raked over Tam. Deciding that she was either harmless or of no consequence looked over to Imp. Picking up Haikal mood towards the Creation, Gwich's beak snapped open and closed. The bird puffed out his feathers menacingly. "Gwich, he's... fine." The bird blinked but didn't move.
