Haikal Brisbane
The sun smiled down at Haikal. It warmed his face with its bright rays and nearly lulled him to sleep as he lay there. His right hand was under his head and his left rested on his stomach. His spear-turned-staff lay beside him. A breeze washed over him and rustled the grasses as it played among them. Haikal took in a deep breath and let it out slowly through his nose. He was content.
It was only two days ago he was driving home to see his parents, but it seemed so much longer than that. A lot had happened since then. He’d asked Astraeus later that day to stop by the apartment he’d been sharing with a friend. He’d grabbed his guitar and a few other items that he was sure the other guy wouldn’t even notice were gone. There was also the deluge of information Astraeus had practically thrown his way. It was almost overwhelming. It was all about the Elementals and their riders; a thorough explanation of how everything worked; a complete overview of the island, and the important little tidbits of random information he should know. H aikal felt as if his brain had just shut off afterwards, but he was sure, or at least he hoped, that he understood most of it. Only time would tell for that.
Yesterday, his first full day on the island, consisted of learning about his newly acquired spear and practicing with it. He couldn’t do much as his leg was too stiff from him running his car into a tree the day before. There was also more information that was shoved into his head and a little bit of exploring the cave he now called his home.
Today, though, was dedicated to exploring and doing nothing. He’d probably walked too much to get to where he was (by one of the borders of the Air lands and one of the other territories he couldn’t remember) but at this particular moment he didn’t care. His eyes began to close and his breathing started to deepen.
