Sons & Daughters
Criss, son of the Water and Fire Elementals, is an angry and conflicted young dragon with a buried heart of gold. While many dragons are most at home in the sea or the sky, Criss prefers to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, thank you so very much. But if he could only embrace his Water heritage, he would find that he can breathe underwater just as well as he can breathe air!
Hi, I'm just visiting right now, but I'd love to join. Kysannis caught my eye on the adoption board, and I have two questions: the first being, is Kysannis still available for adoption? My second question is if I would need to create my own character first and later on adopt, or if I could adopt at a time such as now. I'm holding off joining, I think, in case I do adopt a character. Thanks!
Kysannis is absolutely still up for adoption. You don't need to create your own character first- Twilight's first character was adopted. You are more than welcome to just fill out an application for Kysannis now, and create other characters if and when you want to. =)
I kept some of Opal's powers listed for Kysannis since I liked them...is that okay? Oh shoot, forgot the rp sample! I will add it once I finish.
Kysannis of the verdant secret
Daughter of Ysera and Tivialous
Kysannis, better known as Kysan, is an uncertain, and quite awkward dragoness. She was very certain of her footing once; when she was still beneath her parents' shelter. She quickly learned that being the perfect child would easily throw them off her back, giving her room. She artfully dodged her way from their clutches to be a mature dragoness, or so she seemed. Young Kysan acted as the perfect daughter, dutifully doing everything her parents wished. She felt mature enough to survive by herself, and she seemed quite ready. But now, Kysan has become much more awkwardly uncertain of her life. Her thoughts are strong when they arise, but when it comes to choosing a side, Kysan is her own force. She is her own army, and that is one thing the young dragoness is sure of. She will always be her own side.
While Kysannis is very awkward, she does not quite realize how inexperienced she is. She likes to think she's mature and great and mighty, when she really is not quite old enough to understand everything the way she thinks she does. For instance, though she is quite intelligent, she's not always quite as logical as she likes to believe.
Kysan's idea of logic is to manipulate and deceive. Logically thinking, one would know you must first gain trust before manipulation. But Kysan does not know this of the world, and she lies often to strangers. If they notice that she is trying to deceive them, Kysan will have lost trust, and have one less ally.
Allies are something Kysan does not delight in. As said before, she is her own side. She'll manipulate for information, but those dragons are not her allies, merely puppets, as she likes to think of them. She could control many if she wished, but Kysan thinks too highly of herself to have such creatures as an army. Her pride proves her to think she is greater than other beings. Therefore, she won't put her feet on someone else's side in a conflict. She'd much rather stand right between the two sides.
And standing between those sides, Kysan would have plenty the power to resolve the conflict. Her own side would be strong, with one dragoness the alpha and the omega, because her entire army would be herself. She could easily lie her way between the sides, gathering information to sound convincing.
But Kysan is much too devious for that. She would like to watch the fight between two sides, rather than solve it.
Kysannis is usually unpredictable, much like her physical form. One only predictable thing of her is her choosing of sides: none. She can be likely to collect information, and manipulate, but you must understand these thing are still unpredictable. One could not predict that Kysan was going to manipulate them to take information.
Despite the fact that Kysan is devious, young, naïve, and manipulative, she is a very strongly compassionate dragoness. When she sets her mind to something, she is determined to make it happen. With her compassion comes love and emotional strength, making Kysannis an emotionally strong and loving dragoness when she wants to be.
Similar to her changing personality, Kysannis can change forms, and in essence, appear as almost anything. Usually, Kysannis appears as a Creation, making her blend in as well as she can.
In her Creation form, Kysannis looks like a cross between a dragon and a wolf, with long, flowing fur, and fox-like ears. Her fur is almost as feathery as her four wings; one set on her rump, the other on her narrow shoulders. Her shoulders are not much broader than her slim body, and she is so small around that her spine and ribs show a little beneath her unruly lime-colored fur.
Much like the elegant and regal cheetah, Kysannis moves fluidly, her gait elegant and beautiful. Her long legs are graceful and perfect for speed, though with normally slim shoulders, Kysan does not prove much strength at first glance. But she does have weapons on her head, three horns, one small one on her forehead and two longer ones, one behind each ear. The first horn on her forehead is very small, and not powerful at all. It is velvety and soft, dull, like a young bucks budding antlers. Behind each pointed fox ear, Kysan has a blue crystal-like pointed horn, similar to a gazelle's.
The two sharp horns behind her ears are not natural, and because of this, no matter what form she is in, they stay with her. When Kysannis was a very young dragoness, she found a cave with sharp blue crystalline structures growing all along the walls. Running around excitedly in the blue-lighted reflection from the stones, the wyrmling accidentally ran head-first into two spear-like crystals. In pain, she cried out with much emotion, causing her powers to awaken. The crystals attached to her head, sensing, perhaps, her relationship with the earth element, and decided to forever latch to her. They still stay with her to this day, growing with her, a living piece of her.
The crystals can do as both Ysera and Kysannis say, and Kysan sometimes uses the horns as a way to aim her force. She has grown to love the crystals she can never detach, as she feels they connect her to the earth, their mother element.
Horns: The two blue crystals which are now her horns are a totally unique mineral that augments her natural magical abilities in both Light and Earth magic. She can draw from their inner stores of energy for a devastating Earth or Light attack, but it takes them a week to recharge their energies from sunlight or nearby plants. Due to this, Kysannis does not often use their power, preferring to simply use them to augment her own considerable abilities.
Shapechanging: Kysannis's form is fluid and malleable. She doesn't so much shapechange as simply alter herself. While it does take more energy than plain old shapechanging, Kysannis has found that her type of shape-altering is much more suited to her way of thinking. She can shapeshift (as I will continue to call it) into nearly anything using this method, and due to a lot of practice, is very efficient at it. Kysannis enjoys shifting into a form entirely not her own and fooling others.
Breath Weapon: From her mouth Kysannis can exhale a cloud of acid. While easy to dodge, it's quite deadly if you get caught in it. She is immune to the acid, but cannot control where it goes besides the area she points her head at.
Control over Earth: Kysannis has very simple and basic control over earth, allowing her to create small spikes of rock and do many extremely simple tricks. She is not the best at using her earth powers, and it takes more energy than she'd like to expend. Kysannis prefers to use her earthly powers only in fights, such as creating spikes of rock between her and her opponent.
Collapse: Using a lot of energy, Kysannis can cause a small bit of earth to collapse beneath her opponent. Once she does this, though, it may take her up to four days to recharge to do this again. Like other earth tricks, Kysan is not very experienced, and can not collapse very much earth currently. This is not to say Kysannis will not practice, though.
Control over Light: Kysan's control of light is more advanced than her control over earth, though most of her light skills are still basics. She can shoot beams of light from any horn, or her eyes, sometimes. At times, she can even beam light from her paws.
Suspension: A small amount of light can be suspended in the air for a small amount of time, and then shot up to four or five feet out. Like collapsing, this power takes a while to recharge. Kysannis must recharge her suspension for three days, which is less than collapsing due to her better abilities with light.
Summon Treant: As benefits a favorite of Ysera, Kysannis can summon a treant made of trees native to the area which she's in. She does not often use this power, as it takes her four weeks to carefully build up the stored energy that is required to perform such a feat.

It's fine. Generally the powers, personality of already established characters are kept. =)
My only issue is Kysan's control of light being more advanced than her control over earth. As highlighted in the Dragonsdeep intro, Kysan is very strongly connected with the earth; hence why she was so damaged by the quake while her siblings (Kess and Prism) were not.
Samantha: And Paradox was amazing Dae! I enjoyed writing Adutaine opposite them. =)

Samantha: I get that Blazeh, no worries. <3 The site is pretty dead, it was just me and 27th and we couldn't keep it going on our own.

DaeSiggil: Oops, I know I haven't often helped by disappearing as I did. But still thinking about this place! <3

Verridith: Hey hon, love you guys but haven't seen anything happen since 2017 ;A; hope all are well! But have to remove you from BTACD's sister sites. I'm sorry! </3 </3 </3

Samantha: Exactly! It can be tricky, back home most of my friends are just from school, university or work. xD And it was lovely. They were all so lovely, the ones I was with spent the whole time talking about history, it was fun and edumacational.
Sept 30, 2017 10:02:29 GMT
27th: Wow! You got to have dinner with the authors? Making new friends is always nice. I know that struggle as I don't socialize like my peers.
Sept 12, 2017 18:00:11 GMT
Samantha: that great at doing haha (I don't like going out to parties and stuff, which seems to be the main way people my age socialise.)
Sept 11, 2017 23:11:00 GMT
Samantha: -looks at timestamp on last reply- Eeeek, apologies for the delay! But yeah it was AMAZING. My favourite author signed my favourite book, and we even had dinner with the authors one of the nights. Plus, I made some new friends, which I don't tend to be

27th: That sounds very cool! I would have loved going to something like that.
Aug 20, 2017 21:03:22 GMT
Samantha: It just means 'science fiction and fantasy.' So it was a conference for authors of these things, and scholars who study them!
Aug 19, 2017 21:10:27 GMT
27th: Glad you had a good time in Sweden! What is SFF?
Aug 11, 2017 16:08:48 GMT
Samantha: Sorry for the disappearance. I was in Sweden for an SFF conference- it was pretty cool!
Aug 11, 2017 10:48:27 GMT
Samantha: It's sad, yeah. We need more members to have more staff, we need more staff to keep the place active, and we need to have the place active to get more members. Sort of a vicious cycle. =P
Jul 31, 2017 16:46:13 GMT
Samantha: The problem is that the main person who likes to run contests, Riv, also has a tendency to disappear. xD And I don't have the time and the energy to run this place proper on my own.
Jul 31, 2017 16:45:38 GMT
27th: Yes, it is a lot of work. Though, I agree it could be worth the effort. As far as contests go, we've tried them here at DotE before. I don't know how well any of them worked but we it couldn't hurt to try.
Jul 30, 2017 5:53:42 GMT
R: Could try a contest?
Jul 29, 2017 4:40:04 GMT
shadow: Well. Yea. That also is a lot of work. It would be worth it though
Jul 28, 2017 4:12:51 GMT
27th: Well, recruitment would be key to that. Contacting the members we already have to try and get them to participate here would also be part of that.
Jul 26, 2017 15:52:29 GMT
shadow: I wonder what would happen if we tried to make it alive again
