It was just before sunrise, the eastern horizon stained with the white glow of dawn. That meant they had spent the whole night there in that meadow, waiting, like helpless hatchlings. Well, they weren't helpless, and Prism had had just about enough of this nonsense. Kysannis, their younger sister of some thirty years, had disappeared into the night hours ago now. If she didn't have to be a slave to the whims of their parents, then why did they? What was so special about Kysan that meant she got to act alone, whilst Prism and Kess were expected to wait and worry and not even have any fun without their parents' say?
She hadn't seen Tivialous since he'd asked if they were alright, and barely waited for their reply before wandering off. She hadn't seen Ysera in longer than that. Well, technically she'd seen her. But she hadn't been herself, she'd seemed so cold. So it was fair enough for Prism to claim that she had not reallyseen Ysera in quite some time.
Prism didn't get what everyone was so worked up about. It was a bit of land, some foreign Creations got hurt- big deal! And the Elemental of that bit of land- Darkness, whatever his name was. But he was the Darkness Elemental, right? Tivialous could put him in his place with a brilliant beam of light, surely? So why were they letting this creature push them around, over some silly bit of land and a few Creations foolish enough to get themselves killed?
It was crazy, utter madness. Yes, Prism would not stand for it anymore.
She glanced over at her brother, still sleeping on the ground nearby. Should she wake him up? It seemed like a good idea. If anybody saw them leave, word could get back to their parents quicker than she would like. Heck, their parents themselves could even turn up soon, ready to send them off on some foolish errand or command them to wait in some new, equally thrilling, location. Perhaps a different section of grassland- with, ooh, different coloured flowers! How exciting that would be. How much she desired yet more monotony.
"Kess," Prism hissed, rising and shooting a little ball of coloured light at his upturned forepaws, which fizzled and popped into a multitude of coloured stars. "Kess, wake up!"
