Hello sitelings! I thought it might be useful to have a bit of information on how this thread works, and how you can go about adopting one of these lovelies. x)
Putting a character up for adoption:
This is fairly straightforward, I would think. If you've got a character you don't have time for (or even just plain don't like) anymore, or you have an idea for a character which you don't plan on using yourself; then this board is where you want to be! Create a new thread, and dump all the character information you deem relevant into it. Don't forget to specify whether the character is "free to a good home" (i.e; first in first served), or whether you would rather have different people apply for the character before you choose who it will go to. In either case, people may contact you through this thread or via pm; so if one of these just doesn't suit you, remember to say so.
It might also be good to state the nature of applications- whether you just want people to say that they would like the character, or whether they should write a roleplay sample using the character or a fleshed-out character form.
Adopting somebody else's character:
A character on the board has caught your eye? Congratulations! You'll need to either PM the character's current owner, or post a message in the character's adoption thread. In some cases (i.e; if the owner has indicated that the character goes to the first person who asks for it); you'll only need to state that you are interested in the character and will thus be adopting it. In other cases, you will be applying against other members for the character you desire.
The present owner of the character may want to see a roleplay sample, or they might want to see your fleshed-out version of their skeleton of a character idea. They may even just want to see multiple people express their interest so they can pick the one that they feel would be best for the character. Make sure you know what you are supposed to be doing- ask if need be, most of the sitelings do not bite! xP
Th present owner will probably notify all applicants when a winner has been chosen. Then the thread will be locked and archived, though obviously still accessible should you need to refer to it when writing up a profile for your new character (unless you are adopting unaltered a character which has already been accepted, this new profile will first need to go through "pending").
That's about that. Good luck all, and happy roleplaying! ^.^
