Ivy's grin was infectious. Tam found herself smiling as well, almost against her better nature. It wasn't always easy to think about her sister, growing up without her, learning so many new things which Tam would never hear matter-of-factly blurted in her ear while she was trying to relax. But the memories she had were good ones, and today, with those around her so happy as well; it was nice to reminisce.
"They sound similar, except Ange was closer to my age. She wasn't exactly mature...but she was certainly smart."
Ivy stood, and Tam followed, brushing remnants of daisy and grass stems off her blouse. The sun was at Ivy's back, and Tam squinted at the other girl and fought the urge to sneeze as she listened to her talk.
"Sounds like a plan," she said, when Ivy had finished. "I'm sure Libra wouldn't mind. She reads pretty much everything she can get her paws on. I think I even saw a picture book lying around one time."
She was about to ask what kind of stuff Ivy wrote, and whether or not Tam could read some (it had been a while since she'd seen handwritten script, after all); when the other girl moved to clamber onto Talbot's back. With a half shrug, Tam turned to look up at the Light Elemental.
His Rider wanted him to lie down, Tivialous knew; and for a moment he thought about making her clamber up his leg just to see the look on her face. But his better side won out, and he folded his legs beneath his body and waited for her to approach.
Tivialous could remember a time when she had struggled to ascend onto his back, but now she did so with fluid ease. Once she had settled into place and he could feel her legs pressed against his sides, Tivialous blew smoke in the direction of his son and smiled playfully.
"Ready, Talbot?"
He unfurled his wings half way, golden scales catching the sunshine and reflecting it in all directions like a myriad of tiny lights. Powerful muscles strained, forcing the leathery appendages downward before wrenching them back up into the air. After a few times doing this, Tivialous sprang towards the sky- towards that glistening blue, brilliantly clear day- and was on his way.
Once he'd gained some height he began to circle, checking that Talbot was following and that all was well. His son was right, it had been a while since they'd spent real time together like this. In his chest, Light's heart felt light and free. It was a near perfect day, if he did say so himself. A memory to be treasured.
