Sons & Daughters
Criss, son of the Water and Fire Elementals, is an angry and conflicted young dragon with a buried heart of gold. While many dragons are most at home in the sea or the sky, Criss prefers to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, thank you so very much. But if he could only embrace his Water heritage, he would find that he can breathe underwater just as well as he can breathe air!
Criss flicked his tail as he listened to Tsiaa's explanation. It was very simple and he liked that. He also could relate, not very well but he could. The Lesser Elemental was loyal to the one friend that he did have, no matter if said friend wasn't a very good one. Then, another thought occurred to Criss.
"Adaptable you may be, but if your aerie is everything as you say, then aren't you a tad far from home?"
"Adaptable you may be, but if your aerie is everything as you say, then aren't you a tad far from home?" Tsiaa flicked her wings in a gryphon-style shrug. "I didn't come here by choice, though I work as a scout and hunter for my Aerie, so it makes sense I be the first gryphon here." Her crest raised slightly, and she poofed up her feathers, looking rather pleased with herself. Finding new lands to explore, and possibly new resources for her Aerie, was no small achievement.
"I'm used to traveling alone, and finding places where no gryphon has been before, or at least not for a long, long time." Tsiaa continued. "I've found ruins, temples, and even structures underwater. I couldn't look far into those, of course. That's all just back home, too - there's bound to be much more interesting things here!" It was clear she was excited, and that she enjoyed her role in the Aerie - even far from home, she was determined to carry on with her job.
BIC: Criss was amused at Tsiaa's excitement. He had only come to the West Canyon for a change of scenery, not necessarily company. However, he couldn't deny that this gryphon was OK. The Lesser Elemental rose to his feet. This gryphon, at least, was a curious creature.
"So, you've never been to the Fire territory before now and you're willing to trek out there alone," Criss asked dubiously, flicking his tail to indicate the barren landscape.
The dragon studied the gryphon in silence. In his estimable opinion, all of those fur and feathers would be a major disadvantage in his home territory. She would certainly never manage someplace as unwelcoming as the Barrens, or worse, his mother's Graveyard! Criss shook his head, his neck frill rising up slightly in alarm at this thought. Even though he had been hatched and had lived in the Fire territory his entire life, even he didn't travel to the place where it was rumored his mother most frequented; he had nothing to say to the dragon that had done something as blasphemous as have a Son with an Element as heinous as Water!
OOC: I'd like to thank you, Sery. I don't recall if you know this or not but this is the first role play that I've used Criss in, ever. He's been only an idea for years. I've had to wait until there was a suitable Fire and Water Elemental to actually have him as a character. So, he wasn't exactly fleshed out, at all. Now though, thanks to our RP, I've finally worked out what he looks like and how he acts!
"So, you've never been to the Fire territory before now and you're willing to trek out there alone." Tsiaa followed the motion of Criss' tail, before looking back at the dragon himself. What was so odd about that? Land was there to be explored! Ignoring it because it was possibly dangerous and empty was no excuse. "Yes?" Tsiaa sounded genuinely confused - who wouldn't be excited to see new things and places? "How else will I know what's there? It looks empty from here, sure, but I won't know for sure unless I look."
Tsiaa cocked hear head to one side, eyes slightly narrowed. That frill around Criss' neck had raised slightly, and, though she didn't know if it was the same for dragons as gryphons, that generally communicated alarm, or excitement. "What is it?" She asked.
OOC: :3 I really like Criss, and being able to help with you figuring him out has been a pleasure.
"Has it ever occurred to you to just ask a Fire creation or dragon that's been here? What about your dragon, whoever they are?"
Criss cocked his head. His gaze was rather piercing as he tried to figure this strange gryphon out. There was so much he didn't know and not just about Tsiaa. With limited opportunities to meet others in his chosen territory, the only way he was going to learn anything about anything was by asking questions. He did know that he had a half brother named Talbot and he did know that his brother had a Rider so that meant that one of the other Lesser Elementals was Tsiaa's dragon.
Criss pushed away his unease, realizing that Tsiaa, observant as she was, had picked up on it. He took a deep breath, not realizing what he was going to say until he actually said it.
"The Fire territory is one of the most dangerous territories on the island. If you end up getting yourself killed, someone will have to take the news to your dragon. Who knows what sort of trouble that would cause. Its best that you not go alone. I've lived here my entire life. You would be hard pressed to find someone better than me to accompany you," Criss said, rising to his feet.
Samantha: And Paradox was amazing Dae! I enjoyed writing Adutaine opposite them. =)

Samantha: I get that Blazeh, no worries. <3 The site is pretty dead, it was just me and 27th and we couldn't keep it going on our own.
Apr 23, 2018 12:00:45 GMT
DaeSiggil: Oops, I know I haven't often helped by disappearing as I did. But still thinking about this place! <3
Apr 18, 2018 16:11:08 GMT
Verridith: Hey hon, love you guys but haven't seen anything happen since 2017 ;A; hope all are well! But have to remove you from BTACD's sister sites. I'm sorry! </3 </3 </3

Samantha: Exactly! It can be tricky, back home most of my friends are just from school, university or work. xD And it was lovely. They were all so lovely, the ones I was with spent the whole time talking about history, it was fun and edumacational.

27th: Wow! You got to have dinner with the authors? Making new friends is always nice. I know that struggle as I don't socialize like my peers.
Sept 12, 2017 18:00:11 GMT
Samantha: that great at doing haha (I don't like going out to parties and stuff, which seems to be the main way people my age socialise.)
Sept 11, 2017 23:11:00 GMT
Samantha: -looks at timestamp on last reply- Eeeek, apologies for the delay! But yeah it was AMAZING. My favourite author signed my favourite book, and we even had dinner with the authors one of the nights. Plus, I made some new friends, which I don't tend to be
Sept 11, 2017 23:10:37 GMT
27th: That sounds very cool! I would have loved going to something like that.
Aug 20, 2017 21:03:22 GMT
Samantha: It just means 'science fiction and fantasy.' So it was a conference for authors of these things, and scholars who study them!
Aug 19, 2017 21:10:27 GMT
27th: Glad you had a good time in Sweden! What is SFF?
Aug 11, 2017 16:08:48 GMT
Samantha: Sorry for the disappearance. I was in Sweden for an SFF conference- it was pretty cool!
Aug 11, 2017 10:48:27 GMT
Samantha: It's sad, yeah. We need more members to have more staff, we need more staff to keep the place active, and we need to have the place active to get more members. Sort of a vicious cycle. =P
Jul 31, 2017 16:46:13 GMT
Samantha: The problem is that the main person who likes to run contests, Riv, also has a tendency to disappear. xD And I don't have the time and the energy to run this place proper on my own.
Jul 31, 2017 16:45:38 GMT
27th: Yes, it is a lot of work. Though, I agree it could be worth the effort. As far as contests go, we've tried them here at DotE before. I don't know how well any of them worked but we it couldn't hurt to try.
Jul 30, 2017 5:53:42 GMT
R: Could try a contest?
Jul 29, 2017 4:40:04 GMT
shadow: Well. Yea. That also is a lot of work. It would be worth it though
Jul 28, 2017 4:12:51 GMT
27th: Well, recruitment would be key to that. Contacting the members we already have to try and get them to participate here would also be part of that.
Jul 26, 2017 15:52:29 GMT
shadow: I wonder what would happen if we tried to make it alive again
