▪ Penna Tsiaa ▪ ▪ Twenty Years ▪ ▪ Female ▪ ▪ Heterosexual ▪ Kohaku ▪ Time/Light personality Tsiaa – for Penna is her Aerie,or clan, name – is, like most gryphons, exceedingly protective of what she deems as belonging to her, or her Aerie. This includes possessions, other Aerie members, and territory. A thing to note about Tsiaa is, that while she is very clear on what is hers and not yours, the reverse isn't so cut and dried. This means that any stray object that catches her eye is more than likely destined to find its way into her clutches. Her victims are more often than not shiny – glass or gem, the worth of the object matters not. If it glitters, it's hers. Tsiaa sees nothing wrong with her claiming these things – if the owner was so fond of it, they should have looked after it better. The gryphon has a kind of unwritten rule – if shinies are on display, for all the world to see and snatch at, then they are fair game. The better defended a shiny, the more the current holder cares about it, and the less likely she is to go after it.Tsiaa is proud of what she is, but not to the point of arrogance. It's more she is well aware of her abilities and her place in the Aerie, and is very comfortable with the hand life has dealt her. Stemming from this, she can be stubborn, and unwilling to ask for help. After all, she is a strong member of the Aerie, why shouldn't she be able to take care of herself? When faced with a problem she can't solve herself, she gets flustered, and steadily more and more irritated the situation ensues. With the irritation, comes a somewhat undignified, well, flailing, normally verbally, but sometimes physically, too. Just don't call her a headless chicken, whatever you do. Still young, Tsiaa has a healthy dose (and then some) of curiosity, which sees her interacting with other races more than usual, for a gryphon. While she finds it very odd how other elves and humans can do anything without a gryphon form, she has to admit their solutions to problems can be very ingenious. Tsiaa is happy to watch other races going about their day-to-day lives, and isn't at all shy about asking questions. She has yet to figure out that some people, however, are not at all thrilled to see a gryphon in non-human form bear down on them, however friendly the gryphon is. While she is happy to speak with humans and other races of elf, she hasn't really grasped the finer nuances of body languages in the different species, and so sometimes misses the more subtle cues. The same can be said in reverse – there has been more than one fight started because a human or elf didn't recognise the gryphon body language for 'leave me alone'. appearance Elven FormLike other gryphons in their elven form, Tsiaa is instantly set apart from other elves by her muscular build. The differences between her, and other mortals is made even more apparent when you notice her eyes. A bright, intense amber, they resemble the eyes of a raptor more than any land-bound creature. Wide and somewhat round in shape, these eyes give the impression of missing very little, constantly tracking movement, and homing in on items of interest. As might be expected, Tsiaa's eyesight is keener than that of other elves or humans, while not as keen as that of her gryphon form. The second most noteworthy thing about Tsiaa's elven appearance is her ears - long and pointed, as expected. What one may not expect is that they do not point back, but up, the outer edges softened with small, downy feathers that do not make it to the upper end of the ear. These feathers are the same shade as her hair, and thus are easy to miss, unless one is looking closely. The gryphon's face is long and narrow, and, coupled with her strange eyes and easy confidence, brings to mind the image of an eagle walking amongst wolves, tall and fearless. The occasional sparkle in those eyes, or the quirk of her somewhat narrow lips speaks loudly of her more inquisitive and sometimes playful nature. While the more subtle nuances of her body language may be lost on other races, she has picked up the more obvious tells of the races she mingles with, and employs them when need be. Something of note, too, are her nails. Thicker than those of other races, they are also not truly claws, but something in between. They can be cut, chipped, and broken, but are tougher than their more usual counterpart. Tsiaa stands taller than a human woman, though not so much that she towers over the males, her posture, however, makes her seem even bigger. Confident, and without any hesitation or fear, she carries herself easily, with a kind of limber grace that comes with the full knowledge of your body and its capabilities. Her skin is tanned from hours out in the sun, and her hair is a shining golden brown, complimented by the feathers weaved into the locks. Said locks hang longer in front than the back, going from shoulder length to just brushing the top of the neck around the back of the skull. The feathers are from her own wings, and are a traditional accessory in her Aerie - they show that the gryphon is fully fledged, and considered an adult. For her outfit reference, please check the image in the 'other' section. Gryphon Form In build, Tsiaa's gryphon form is not as muscled as one might expect from her elven form. She is a sleek, golden-brown figure, her features reminiscent of both the golden and harpy eagles - her face and crest are more of the harpy, while her colouring is that of the golden eagle. As mentioned, she has a small crest of feathers at the back of her head. These feathers are darker brown than the rest of her body, and can be raised, or flattened, to express moods. Her ears, in full evidence and just as pointy as her elven form's, though more feathered, are also moved to express emotions. A sharp, heavy beak is probably the first thing people notice, seeing as how the curious gryphon will waste no time in asking questions, no matter the form she's in. Attention may then wander to the large, golden eyes, set in the front of the face like any bird of prey. Next to be noted, maybe nervously, are the heavy, hooked talons on the grey scaled forefeet. The feet are arranged with three toes in front, and one in back. Feathers cover the legs down to the 'ankle'. Her hindquarters are those of a large cat - in Tsiaa's case, a lion, though coloured darker than any beast. Almost chocolate brown fur covers her hindquarters, though golden-brown feathers sprout from the backs of her legs. Her tail is a mixture of both lion and eagle, being the 'usual' appendage, albeit tipped with a fan of feathers, that can be folded and spread as need be. Now, the main attraction, and Tsiaa's pride and joy - her wings. Long, powerful, and beautiful, Tsiaa's wings are the golden-brown on top, and a paler, almost creamy brown, underneath, with darker brown barring. In flight, the primary feathers spread out, almost like fingers reaching for the clouds. In size, Tsiaa is around the same size as a large draft horse. She could, theoretically, carry a small person on her back, but that's as likely as the sky falling. Regardless, the gryphon is strong, and one should match their strength against hers only if they are well and truly set for a long contest. history Born as the result of an arranged pairing between a male from a different Aerie, and her mother, Tsiaa was raised as a normal gryphon - above all else, the Aerie comes first. It was drilled into her since the day she was old enough to understand words. It was the sole rule of the Aerie, and one that had been in place for generations as a way to focus the natural protective natures of the gryphons. Everything they did served the Aerie in some way, and, in her own fashion, Tsiaa does this still with her 'hoarding' of shiny things. As she grew, Tsiaa was taught how to fight, how to read the skies for storms, and, as she reached her teen years, how to master her transformations. For, at first, the change does not come easily, but in fits and starts. Feathers start to adorn the ears, and the skin on the hands becomes rougher, as well as the nails thickening. Finally, the fledgling gryphon is overcome by the urge to find an open space where, once reached, they will undergo First Change, and become a full gryphon. After this day, they are considered an adult, and permitted to wear feathers in their hair. As well, their eyes change colour, from a nondescript brown, to the same shade as that of their gryphon form. After her First Change, Tsiaa became a scout, often flying great distances from the Roost of the Aerie, and returning days later with claw-fulls of materials. She often found merchants from other Aeries, and traded goods with them. While the Aeries did not truly trust one another fully, they were well aware of the need to keep some degree of intermingling going, and so trading - both Aerie members and goods - was encouraged. It was on one of her journeys, seeking out things to take back to the Aerie, that she encountered some kind of turbulence. She had flown through rough winds before and so, with somewhat more stubborness than wisdom, pressed on. The wind howled around her, but by this point she was flying as one possessed. She was not going to be grounded by some damn wind! Grinding her beak, she gave her wings one massive stroke, and then... ...She was somewhere else. Somewhere she had never been before. Tsiaa knew the land she had been flying over, knew it like she knew her own Roost. So, where in the Winds was she? Quickly, she landed, and tried to take stock of her new sorroundings, only to realise that, no, she didn't know this place. Then a story her mother had told suddenly came to mind, something about elves and humans going missing, and then returning, long after they had gone, with wild tales of a new land, ruled by dragons. Dragons who had claimed them as companions. So...This must be what had happened to her! No other explanation. Tsiaa gaped her beak in a gryphon-grin, and took to the sky again. She'd find her dragon, and then they would find a lot of loot to take back for the Aerie. What a story this would make! Weapons In her elven from, Tsiaa uses her fists and feet to fight, using a martial art passed down in her Aerie from its founding. She is fast and strong, and her body is well able to keep up with her demands, so it serves as her weapon. Her nails, too, can be used to inflict painful scratches. As well, she possesses a great store of stamina, and a good measure of agility, though she wears no armour, and her range is, of course, limited to what she can reach. Combat is a different matter, but not as much as one may think, in her gryphon form. She still uses her body to fight, but there is a new dimension - flight. She will use her powerful beak to hold an enemy still while using the claws on her hind-paws to rake at the foe. Her fore-claws are exceptionally powerful, and once they clamp onto something, she will only let go when she wants to. While she does not have any magic of her own, Tsiaa is somewhat resilient to it. Not to the degree that she can negate a fireball - it will sill send her spiraling to the ground as a bundle of smoking feathers - but to the degree that she can tell when it is being worked, and, if she sets her will against the caster, try to 'see' through any attempts to cloud her mind or vision. IMPORTANT (added by Sam): Tsiaa is an NPC until Sery's return. She should be used sparingly, and you should avoid doing anything major like pulling a "break the cutie". We want Sery to be able to come back to the same lovely Penna Tsiaa, after all! xD
