ooc: Excellent. X3
So, uh... we gonna keep going with this, or shall we wrap up soon?
ic: Although some part of him had known he wouldn't be getting away that easily, especially when he wasn't booking it as hard as he could, Desmond had hoped that would be the end of it. That Karma would stay where she was or storm off to fume in whatever way she managed her anger, and he'd make it back to familiar territory without and further issues. Or, you know, not.
While she had started running after him, the Death Rider kept up his pace, thinking he would dodge when the time came. However, instead of trying to launch herself into him as he might have anticipated, Karma made use of her powers, sending the shadows rushing his way. Unable to react in time, even with the warning from the wisp, Desmond was ripped off his feet again and brought crashing to the ground. While he was still dazed, Karma went blazing by, stooping to make one last grab for his wrist. He felt her fingers wrap around the bracelet there and slip it off, and suddenly her previous actions made sense. That's what she'd been going for.
Almost as quickly as the realization came, though, it transitioned into something he very rarely felt; raw anger. She'd pushed and pushed, and finally, his temper could hold out no longer. And if she thought she'd be getting away, she had another thing coming. Shooting to his feet with a newfound fire in his heart, Desmond fired off after her. As he went, he called out a single word. "Colm!" Two could play the powers game.
Almost immediately after he'd spoken, a massive, ghostly gryphon materialized in the air beside him, already bounding on ahead through the trees. Within seconds, he had closed in on the fleeing girl and, with a loud screech tackled her to the ground, pinning her beneath his claws. Shortly afterward, Desmond slowed to a halt next to Karma, staring down at her with nothing but ice in his eyes. "Thank you, Colm," he murmured to the summoned spirit, dropping into a crouch.
Reaching down, he tore his bracelet roughly from the other Rider's grasp and held it up for her to see. "Never," he told her, dangerously calm, "try to take this from me again." Returning the bracelet to its proper place, Desmond straightened up and started walking back toward the Death Territory once more. After a moment's hesitation and a quick warning glare, Colm followed suit, trotting a bit to catch up.
