Creations are fascinating creatures, are they not? Beautiful and powerful, but forever at the mercy of the reigning Elementals. Although most of us do not really consider these things, this thread will cover what is currently accepted information about the race of Creations.
The process of creation is a complex thing. An Elemental gathers its power and crafts out of it a draconic form, with as much control over this physical process as a craftsman has over the objects he crafts. This physical form may be old or young, as an Elemental can create a dragon at any stage of growth. The more creative energy that is put into the construction of a Creation, the longer it will tend to live (barring accident or injury).
As it wields this creative energy, the Elemental can not help but let some information slip from their mind into that of the new Creation. This is why Creations are not completely blank slates at birth, but rather possess some knowledge. The Elemental can let this knowledge flow at random, or it can attempt to instill certain knowledge in the mind of its new Creation by focussing on certain thoughts.
As for the powers of a Creation; well, its Creator can choose to gift it powers. If they choose to do so, they can gift relevant Elemental powers (such as the ability to manipulate raindrops to a Water Creation, for example) or generic other powers (eg; the ability to lengthen spines or shape shift- powers such as these are woven into the fabric of the dragon's appearance, and so can be bestowed by Elementals without such powers). Powers which the dragon itself could not plausibly bestow, such as psychic tendencies for a Water Creation; can occasionally turn up if an Elemental chooses to not gift its Creation powers. Under such circumstances a dragon will usually end up with no powers at all, but sometimes it receives a random one or, very occasionally, two random powers. It is uncertain just how "random" these powers are- perhaps they spring from the mind of the Creator in some way, but to date this is uncertain.
What is also uncertain up until this point is just how a Creation gets its name. Perhaps it derives from the knowledge passed through into its mind, or perhaps from the elemental energy itself. Maybe it is a mixture of causes. Whatever the explanation, a Creation typically knows its name from the moment of its construction. There may be a formal process in which the Elemental asks its new Creation for its name, and the Creation speaks it aloud back to it. This was the case in the Creation of Siralos of Light, for example.
One sometimes controversial facet of a Creation's identity is the creature's inability to reproduce. As set out in the lore, various factors caused the Elementals to come to an agreement that they would make their Creations sterile. Creations can pursue relationships and even fall in love, but they can not have offspring of their own. This has been so for many thousands of years.
