This isn't exactly a contest, but I felt this was the best place to put it.
Sometimes a roleplayer leaves a roleplay, for whatever reason. If we're lucky, they let us know, and we can adopt out or deal with their characters accordingly. Other times, we don't get these chances. And when this happens, it is entirely possible that an important role in the roleplay universe might go unfulfilled, and make a plot very confusing indeed.
In particular right now, I'm talking about Thorndike with regard to 'Blood of Ice'.
Thorndike was the dragon who convinced Darkflame, and soon after D and MoonJem, to follow him to the Ice territory during 'Blood of Ice'. About midway through the plot, his roleplayer left the group. We carried on as though the character had never existed, which is all well and good- except now, it's difficult to explain what motivated the other characters to fly to the Ice realm in the first place, when none of them knew what grave danger Selgar was in!
I think we have three options here.
1) If some other player wants to create a character to fill the role previously occupied by Thorndike, I will put some details at the bottom of this post.
2) If nobody wants to do that, we can make it that Thorndike himself disappeared partway through the plot, never to be seen again!
*eerie ghost noises*
3) Or, y'know, we can just retcon the whole start of the plot to make it so that one of the other three knew about the danger Selgar was in, and initiated the whole 'questline'.
Do you strongly favour any particular option? Do you not care either way, but nonetheless would like to contribute some comments on the matter? Post below with your thoughts! =)

The Role (for those who would wish to have another character fill it)
*Creator does not matter, though preferably not Death, as I suspect this would have caused tensions with D (perhaps 27th can confirm or refute this?)
*The character would have disappeared midway through the 'Blood of Ice' arc, never to be seen again...so far, anyway. What happened to it in the interim? You get to decide!
*The character's reasons for knowing Selgar was in danger can also be chosen by you. Thorndike merely promised him he would come to help him if he didn't see him again in x amount of time, but we lost those roleplay records, so you can alter the facts as desired. =)
*The character can be of any gender or sex.
