D once more flicked his tail. His size was a problem, even in open areas. He had never hunted with another dragon before so this was going to be a fun challenge. He had been thinking it over as Darkflame led them on and now he had come to a solution, he hoped. The large orange dragon was going to shape-shift.
"Yes, I'd love to hunt together with you. Just know that I've never hunted with another dragon...so, I may very well make a mistake. Due to my size, I think it would be best if we hunted down a deer or a horse. In that case, I'll shape-shift to become more streamlined so I'm able to run, rather than fly," D said.
As he finished speaking, the Life creation began to change his body, not his size-since his shape-shifting didn't include that-but the way his body was shaped. He recalled seeing another hunter use their speed to overtake prey on the plains of the Life territory and being amazed at their skill. He kept an image of their body shape in his mind. His wings, first, became narrower, pinning close to his sides. Then, his chest became larger, deeper, his belly tucking up into well-muscled hind limbs.
Next came D's tail, which kept its length but was no longer unadorned, having a small flare of long white feathers at the tip. He actually didn't know whether the feathers had any help in making him run faster; he just added them because the hunter that he had based his shape-shift on had feathers on their tail. Change complete, D opened his eyes-having closed them to focus on what he wanted his body to look like-and studied his new form. He nodded his head and then smiled warmly at Darkflame. He was satisfied with his new look.
"What do you think of me now, Darkflame? Its not fur like yours but I think this will do to hunt down swift-footed prey," D said, growling the last words playfully, shaking the earth beneath them in the process.
The large orange dragon, used to telepathy, had forgotten how powerful his voice could be and recalled why he switched to telepathy in the first place. He wasn't sure why his voice was so strong to begin with and Fazoola had no answer for it, either. She had told him that life was unpredictable. Even when much thought was put into creations, untold things did happen; D's voice was one of those things. He supposed it didn't matter, as long as he didn't scare off any potential prey.
